Bristow & Sutor

Meet Daniel Moore

16/08/2021

In this weeks Leading the Way blog, Daniel Moore, our new Solutions Manager for Revenues, shares insight into his career so far and his initial impressions of working for Bristow & Sutor

I joined Bristow & Sutor one month ago, after working in various roles within Local Government, the Private Sector and a large Social Housing provider. I have a strong understanding of Local Government practices, particularly Revenues, and enjoy devising and implementing tailored solutions that get the best out of people, improve processes and foster the adoption of new technology.

My career in the industry began at Peterborough City Council in 2005, working as a Benefits Visiting Officer before being promoted to a Senior Visiting Officer and then a specialist position focused on Local Taxation. It was during this period that I built my foundation of practical knowledge about the sector and began to understand the common goals, ambitions and challenges involved. I was promoted to Sundry Debt Team Leader and took on additional responsibility to manage the Council’s Notice Processing and recovery function working closely with the Parking Enforcement team. I then took further upwards step to the position of Recovery Manager. Three years ago, I pursued an opportunity with Cross Keys Homes which is Peterborough’s largest Social Housing provider and joined the Income Management team to gain further knowledge and experience in this field.

I have always retained an invested interest in the enforcement sector, and I am excited to now be in a position where I can utilise the knowledge I have gained. Every aspect of my career thus far will play a part in solving the bespoke needs and requirements of customers at Bristow & Sutor.

Why Bristow and Sutor?

I was impressed by Bristow & Sutor and the company ethos of always considering tailored solutions for clients, despite being a large organisation. The company is considered a leader in the enforcement field for its approach and results, which made the prospect of joining the business very appealing. I will also be working closely with my parking solutions counterpart, Darren Bell, who I previously worked alongside at Peterborough City Council. We both have a keen interest in running and have just completed the London Landmarks Half-Marathon. He is an asset to any business and I know working together once again that we will achieve great things at Bristow & Sutor.

Having only been on board for the past 4 weeks, I am still learning about the business, but I can already see the best-practice mindset that drives the company forward. I have joined at an exciting time as many projects are underway in areas such as social value, internal engagement and technology transformation. This is all being rolled out with the aim and purpose of maintaining a clear customer focus and establishing the company as the clear leader in the industry. Each client is different and it is evident that this is understood and respected, with many conversations I have had already focusing on evolving current services to increase engagement and efficiency, ensuring long term and future success.

I was delighted to see the business has been shortlisted for an IRRV Performance Award for its work with Nottingham City Council, as that recognition is a testament to the hard work that I can already see the team puts in daily. I am looking forward to seeing if they bring home the prize in October!

Aspirations for the role

Initially, I am going to be quite focused on assessing the effectiveness of solutions with current clients and identifying room for improvement, as well as playing an integral role in the solutions suggested to leads and prospective new customers. My varied experience and especially my background working at a Local Authority allows me to relate to clients and put myself in their shoes, which helps with understanding what would be the most beneficial outcome for them and us. I will be drawing from this knowledge and listening to individual requirements to put in place targeted solutions that add extra value.

Ultimately, my goal is to provide Bristow & Sutor with high levels of retention and maintain a happy client base, facilitating wider business growth and developing relationships to achieve these aims. I may only be one month into my new role, but I have found colleagues incredibly supportive and have been fortunate to meet many of them in person. I am looking forward to becoming even more entrenched in the company culture and to begin shouting about the innovative solutions we can provide for clients soon.
